Tried not running iTunes in the background? BF2 is highly memory intensive and so can iTunes be.

Resolution! Screen res is what's made mine stop working. It needs 1024x768 or lower (i think), anything higher causes problems. Mine doesn't even start, but check your res.

I don't think thats the problem , I run at 1280x1024 with no problems, just close all other programs when you play it and then after reinstalling it 40 or 50 times and having week long conversations with EA support you can play without any problems

Folding@Home also causes crashes. Also if you have set your refresh rate to something higher than standard in your display driver, or powerstrip, that will do it, or if you run Avast antivirus, that would do it. Also, if you have BitTornado, Azureus, or uTorrent running, that will do it. If you have one of those TCP/IP speed enhancers, that will do it. If you were born on the 3rd, 8th, or 21st of a month, thats why, and if you are wearing any cotton, that could do it as well.

By people, you mean dsio. Easy mistake. By the way, don't expect things to improve anytime soon. In releasing the beta for Battlefield 2142 (The BattleField 2 expansion pack that they are calling a new game) they are moving on already. And yes, since BF2 and BF2142 are exactly the same game, with different skins and maps, all the bugs and problems with BF2 will infest BF2142 as well. Happy crashing. "EA: Sell Everything!"

It can't really be that difficult to work the bugs out of BF2. They just really don't care about it, because people are still buying it even though it's buggy as hell. I personally don't own the game, but after trying to get it to work at a friend's house, I gave up on it. I mean, runescape is less buggy and that's free.

Runescape is less buggy, because its written in Java, and runs on a JVM, rather than a computer thats doing 20 other things at the same time. Incidentally, I'm a runescape member, (windofdsio) look me up ![]() The big issue here, and the reason why EA's PC games have gone down the toilet, is that they are now making their games multi-platform, with the primary, and future focus more on consoles. When you write software for a console, you don't have to worry about hardware variation, you don't have to worry about operation system variation, and you don't have to worry about other operations running in the background. The console is essentially as close to that ideal environment that Java runs on as you can get, and its because of this that their PC games are going downhill. BF2 in order to run, has to be running on an uncomprimised version of Windows XP, with no other programs running in the background. It needs to be able to dictate the exact hardware settings it wants, and to hell with what the driver has configured. Its not designed to accept or allow any interference. That's why its a fussy little bitch of a program. Its because they have console coders writing the PC version.
