Battlefield 2142 Demo

I've finally obtained and uploaded the BF 2142 Demo. It is available here in AOAFiles. Enjoy!

I'll probably save a few penny's and get it.

I'll try the demo and if it's as annoying as BF2 is ony my rig, then it's a big fat no.

Note: Several people have had problems with the game throwing up an error about a missing D3D file, reinstalling DX9.0c seems to solve this.

I keep getting the .dll message I have reinstalled DX 9.0c but still does it...............It feels like history repeating.

Don't bother. The whole game is simply an extension of a franchise. It stands for nowt.
I'd reccomend saving yourself some money and getting Company of Heroes instead, which also includes a free copy of Dawn of War.
Then, wait for games like Crysis.

And add Vista just so you can play it, yeah, of course. I really hope it won't be a case of Vista being a requirement. For one, it doesn't make financial sense. Plus, weren't they running the tech demos and videos using DX9?

Maybe it'll be a case of being able to choose between DX9 and DX10 (and maybe even OpenGL). That would seriously kick ass.

I'd get UT2007 on preorder. Most places are only charging £18 delivered! I've got mine preordered but it cost £20 from my local HMV without any delivery. Might cancel and then preorder off of net so i can get it delivered as well.

Crysis runs in DX9 and DX10. But according to Crytek, neither G80 or R600 will be powerful enough to play it in DX10 mode, as is often the case with first generation hardware.

I like this game. Played yesterday for a few hours and noticed faster connection times along with new things. I was especting it to be more like BF2 but is not. Those that has dld and played pls share your thoughts. Ty Gizmo for making it available here.

Lemme guess, this is gonna be a case of i decide to buy it and then everyone else finds something wrong with it, as was the case with BF2.

It does look good but i'm not so sure i really want something that's running on the same engine as BF2 clogging up my PC. I'd much rather have something running on the source engine, anyday. The graphics and physics in source are far more superior IMO.

Are Dice making this one as well?

Oh yeah, almost forgot, does it have any sort of HDR or Bloom?

There was a problem affecting downloads for subscribers. I believe I have fixed it now.

to the person who reinstalled dx9.0c and still had trouble loading the demo:

were you installing the latest version of 9.0c you have downloaded on your

pc or the latest one available ? there was an update to dx9.0c made avail.

this summer and this is the version you need. it's a free download from

microsoft.com. it says in the demo release notes that the correct version

of dx9.0c is included in the demo download but they may mean it will be

included in the final version of the full retail game which is the case for

many games nowadays. also, when originally looking for a site to

download the demo from that had decent speed so as not to take

for-ev-er i noticed the download file size varied a little from site to site.

didn't look too long but downloaded largest file and had same trouble you

are having. a visit to microsoft.com fixed the problem.

If you are having problems, with D3DX9_29.dll,i've attached the updater that will fix the problem.

But, i don't like the game at all. It's still as laggy as BF2 and the textures on the ground are just as bad, if not worse than BF2 so i'm getting rid of it, i certainly won't be buying it.

All the servers are real laggy for me.

TBH this game is exactly like BF2 excepct with new skins
