Exclamation Quick-view: GTR2

If you like to drive great cars as Ferrari, Porsche.....etc, if you have a steering wheel or not then your chance is called GTR2 ! Yesterday I tried this amazing game and is above any similar sim released on PC until now ! Is also the first game that comes with so much effects and so much more details, that I would recommend a 6800/512 mb as a minimum vcard if you like medium settings and something better if you want to run it on high! Here is the link to the site and you can dld the demo aswell !

Pics thanks to Official GTR2 Site !

DATA SHEET:

Realism has been redefined:
absolutely authentic physics, dynamic day and weather changes as well as an impressive damage model

Original circuits:
34 different track variations

Tough competition:

Scalable levels:
3 different game modes (Novice, Semi-Pro and Simulation)

Great fun:
Great fun: 6 game events (Open practice, Race weekend, Championships, Time trials, 24 Hour Races, Driving school)

I use the Logitech Driving Force Pro(PS2 GT4 wheel). the force feedback is great.

LoL. I could post some screens, but it seems every time i play a game i forget to load FRAPs up.

I've tried out the demo, and to be honest, i'm not overly impressed with the graphics. It just doesn't have that realistic feel to it. Controlling the car in 100% rain is awesome though. It looks better in the screenies in post #1.

An example of what i mean is that if i set the race time to 23:00, it's still very light on the track and i never need my headlights. So this is one game that i think i'll pass.

I would think this is due to the limitations of your graphics card. Racing Simulators demand high FPS for a smooth ride.

I got it, it's looking simply amazing at 1920*1200.

No problem with FPS. And yes, i have set it all at max and it still looks bad. Maybe there's something i'm missing but i don't see the graphics i was expecting. I think it's because it doesn't have an atmosphere (trees look flat and the sky doesn't look realistic if it's all blue without a single cloud but no sun). I'm gonna tweak about and see what i can get.

Those screenies are. presumeably, at max. If your pc was running it at max, you'd get the same.
Therefore there is simply no way a 7600 can handle a brand new game, at 1280x1024 res, with such detailed graphics as GT2 at full settings.
Sorry. You proove it yourself in the above quote.

Well i figured out why i wasn't getting darkness. I wasn't in time-trial mode. I also found some other options that i hadn't set. But i set them all at max and it's a bit better, as good as the screenies, but still not too great.

I'll get some of my own screenshots with a fraps FPS included.
EDIT: Screenies! Now say a 7600 can't handle it at 1280x1024:

And one last screenie. The FPS on those screenies is consistent so it doesn't frop from 80 to 20, then up to 100, it's about 50 at the lowest. and 85 at the highest.

There does seem to be quite a difference between those screencaps and the ones from the official website, can anyone else shed any light as to how it looks for them?

I seem to remember the demo offering me dx9 settings.
It's all still based on the old f1 challenge engine. (which is why most systems can play it easily, racing engines have not evolved much)

Are you sure you got GTR2 for $20 and not GTR with GT Legends pack ? as gtr2 is a new game only about a month old.

It does look quite good, rfactor is nicer but lacks the rain and pit commentry.

As for the lighting the track in the demo is lit in places i seem to remember, that or could just be a demo bug for you

Yes, I'm sure, as I own the entire series, and at least 2 copies of each game (wife likes to drive too), and for the price, it was well worth it. Please note that regular version sans GTLegends is $20 CAD. I paid $30 for bonus edition.

As soon as I re-encode soem fraps vid's I'll upload a few(600mb for 30 seconds @ 60FPS, but boy does it look good)
