Just installed Stalker. Seems to work just fine, no major lagging so far.

Man is this a F.E.A.R thread or a S.T.A.L.K.E.R thread?

STALKER looks amazing! I have been searching for a demo online and realized you're right. The levels are so big how can they make a demo without sacreficing all the content.
I guess I'll have to purchase it and take a risk.

Will it run on my specs in my signature?
Why is it so cheap? under $40!!!

Shame no AA+HDR again, the HDR used very well though, hard to sacrifice it as it takes out alot of the atmosphere. Especially in the darker areas where it's time to bring out the flashlight.

Don't bother, with your gcard you'll probably have around 5 fps/m

I noticed that after turning AA to the max and seeing no improvement Funny thing is that I have read some reviews and the author had no clue why isn't the fps dropping when AA activated (thus showing graphs with and without AA), muahahahahaha

Say m8 is your display set on 32 bit? Good refresh rate? Because I see a broken quote and I know you have good eyes

Now a question for meditation:
Can your card run a game with HDR and AA enabled?

Man look what you did You broke your quote then mine and then from my quote you broke yours again I am over 30 and can't see damn letters without my glasses

PS Your 2,5D video adapter can't do HDR and AA @ the same time !!! But relax Nvidia made a patch and in the patch they said: "Please play any game first with HDR enabled until you finish the game and then try another approach with AA enabled and you can say after; I've played with AA and HDR"

Perpetual quote breaking....

I don't usually use AA anyway. I just crank it up to 1600x1200 or higher. That usually cleans it up.

So if the game supported it you'd be happy and he'd be screwed! And if frogs had wings they wouldn't bump their asses so often! ":O}

Hell Yes! 2x1Gb > everything since XP can only see about 3Gb (even though it "supports" 4Gb). And it's the best dual-channel combo.

Yeah, i can, CS:S with Full HDR and AA! Ok, it's adaptive bloom but it looks so realistic. OT, i had HDR and bloom set really high earlier and at the start of a map, all you could see was the dark silhouettes of other players for about the first 10 seconds. I can't remember the command now though but it wasn't a cheat-protected one. Looked rather cool, if not good for in-game players health.

Yes Sam, the lack of wings took care of that for them. See. Count 'em, no left wing, no right wing, big 'ol fat flat ass!
(Maybe if frogs had been less ambitious about altitude, but mostly it was the wings.) ((It's the things we can't see that hurt us the most!)

It's the OpenEXR HDR that proves a problem with AA, but it's the most widly used (Cryengine, Oblivion, Serious Sam and Stalker use it for example.) But there are other adaptations and ways to create HDR source is a good example, and I think we'll see more of them crop up, especially for Dev with the PS3, since it can't render OpenEXR HDR with AA like the 360 can.

However, OpenEXR's is still the benchmark for the moment.

I thought the nvidia 7*** series cards just couldnt do HDR and AA at the same time as in its a hardware limitation as HDR was added as a last minute feature sort of thing.

If you're getting alot of slowdown chris i'd try turning hdr off as it does eat up alot of resources and you dont have the full beans x1950 but the cut down pro version
looking at your system spec if fps doesnt increase as you lower resolution then you are cpu limited, alas amd have killed off all 939 cpu's so you'd have to go 2nd hand to get a better one.

As for the comment about xp and ram, 2GB is the recomended max for xp as it auto creates the same amount in page file, and if you exceed 4.2Gigs total bad things happen.
It is possible to change around this pagefile setting to make use of upto 4 gigs of ram
