Its a good game. However when entering the fourth mission there was this huge drop in FPS due to...lightning...or so it appears. I will show you some pics to see what I mean. What the hell is wrong?

yeah I got this game a few days ago. I'm really enjoying it and it has some truly frightening areas. But like you said, I have also encountered random slowdowns and some stutters. Hopefully they will optimize this in a patch

lol no issues here...your details levels are too high. oh, and make sure you unlock the game.

Your res might be the first thing to lower. Try 1280x1024 (or if your widescreen, the nearest widescreen res to that).

OT, is there a playable demo of this game available anywhere? I wanna try it.

Well I just started "fear" so I'm good for a while.... anyone else loose it when grabbing a ladder down and being auto spun to descend find themselves facing the little #$^%$@#^%^^&#@ girl just standing there in her horrific insolence? bruised my finger hitting the "S" key! ":O}

Totally freaked me! I jumped a foot and though games be fun, a genuine scare is rare. I still laugh when I think how badly I was done in....by a little Girl!!

I only laugh becasue i pretty much did the same. For that alone, FEAR deserbes to eb in everyone's game collection. Seemily just in time, the "GOLD" version of FEAR featuring the expansion in the same box was released last week, for $40CAD.

Guys and gals something is messed up.

1. What is the unlock you talk about Dave?
2. Even if I downgrade res/details I still have ****!
3. My X1950 won't be bothered by 1680x1050 since I don't get a real increase by setting it on 1280x1024...not even 1024x768 does it.
4. The average fps I get in this game is above 40 on all previous levels. This level is messed up

I am playing through the expansion pack now. I have found my self pretty far away from my desk while playing this game. Seems to scare my chair or something. How is it that this little girl can make me jump so.


Chris. Looks like a sweet game. Have you tried turning sittings down one at a time? There may be one that is eating up all the HP of your card.

Did you mean to finish your sentence then? Did she get you again?

I really need to get FEAR. Think i could make it all the way through by just laughing at it?

I have the SPDemo but i got freaked when a vision tried to eat me after sliding down some stairs. I wasted almost all my ammo on that part as well . If i remember correctly, he was walking towards me trying to eat me and he looked like this: . YUM, CHEWY!

Thing is, i get out of the car, walk through the gap in the fence, towards the sewer thing and then i stop because i know i'm gonna hear the freaky radio crackling and see the little girl run across my screen. Even thinking "it's just a game" doesn't help. Can you imagine if you'd just decided to go down there and then all of a sudden your X-Fi starts squeling like a bitch? Man, that would really freak you out. Lucky i got rid of mine then .

As for Chris, turn down dynamic grass shadows and lighting, those 2 together = rape the 8800GTX. Turn down AA to 2. Also, it could be the level itself. Are there a significant amount of extra entities in this level (such as boxes, barrels, etc) than in other levels? Is there more AI (in your opinion)?

Have you thought of monitoring memory, CPU, and pagefile usage while playing (I'm sure there's something out there that can log it while you're playing).

how do you turn down seperate gfx's all I had was a bar that showed graphic settings and thats on Max, would like to see if I am missing out on some eye candy

Well it's quite easy really, just click on advanced tab and there you are. Tell me what happens when you reach the lightning level pls ! And tell me what res and frames you have! TX
