After months of speculation on what Blizzard’s next big title will be, it was revealed today at the Blizzard Worldwide Invitational in South Korea that StarCraft would indeed be getting a sequel. StarCraft II was announced in front of thousands of attendees at the special event, who received a presentation that included a StarCraft II cinematic trailer and a gameplay demonstration by the development team....

hell it will be out in ooooooo about 2010.... and diablo 3 will be out in 2015.... ill have my x9900xt by then running at 1million x 1.4 million resolution on my mpsdm holographic display panel

hell, I'm not upset about that.... this games been under development for quite some time; but its not about looks - if the gameplay is just as good, or dare I say better than the original - then what api it runs on means little to me

I'm just skeptical that Blizzard can recreate what was great about the first while making something different.

Just my viewpoint, but doesn't it seem here like you have to strike while the hammer's hot!?
I mean, it's been a long time, the creative team must have been through some changes... I'd expect to see massive technological improvements... but the magic... you can create the magic, but if you try to re-create the magic..it may well just turn into another tech trick...

SC & BW are in the top selling games ever.....
best games reviewed and back to back game of the year

however I would like to say when they came out the gameplay was nothing innovative. however the units were different, we had 3 races to pick from (as opposed to two from Warcraft an 2 from C&C) which made it a little better.

I believe the driving factor was the storyline... its solid for an RTS.

again, typical... mass tons of unit X, and rush base A... whoever has the most units and builds the fastest wins. hardly was BW ever about unit quality.

this is where I"m hoping they can improve.

i'm confident in blizzard. its one of the few companies that develope titles, try to work out the kinks THEN sell.
in comparison to some "other" folkes *cough EA*

I dont believe I've played any game under there title thats been a dissapointment. - i have faith they can continue this work
