Bioshock I haven't seen any discussions about this game here yet, but Bioshock looks so good that I can't help but share it. It appears to be a kind of horror FPS that's set for release this August on PC (DX9/10) and Xbox 360. If nothing else, this game appears to have plenty of creepy atmosphere to go around. Plenty of information can be found here on IGN's site. Is anybody else as excited about this game as I am? |

A playable demo has been posted on Xbox Live. It's absolutely fantastic! The PC demo is coming 'this month,' though no firm details as to when. There is also a brand new launch trailer, which you can check out on youtube here. I'll post some more detailed demo impressions later. |

Well, i have played the demo on my Xbox 360 and it is absolutely stunning!!! The graphics are unbelievably beautiful. I am soooo excited about this game coming out. If you have an Xbox 360, i highly recommend checking out the demo, it will floor you..... |

aye it looks good first DX10 game to try out. A bit confused as to why the Xbox mags are calling it a "FPS 2.0" apparently its never been done before...... I think they mean "all we have on the 360 is CoD3, Q4 and perfect dark, so this is tottaly different from them so we will call it must be a new concept"

OK, so I've had some time to play through a few hours of this game now. Bioshock is fantastic, hands down. Here's the story: You are on an airplane flying over the Atlantic when it suddenly and inexplicably crashes into the ocean. You are the only apparent survivor. As you surface in the middle of a ring of flames, you see a huge lighthouse jutting ominously out of the middle of the sea. Upon entering the lighthouse, you find a kind of submarine on tracks which transports you into a city. The city's name is Rapture; it was originally envisioned by a man named Andrew Ryan as a utopia for artists, scientists and industrialists. The idea is that the great few would not be constrained by the mediocre few. However, it quickly becomes apparent that this utopia has gone horribly wrong. 'Splicers' roam Rapture. These splicers are people (who used to be normal citizens of the city) who have apparently gone insane. You can use weapons and 'Plasmids' to fight these beings. Plasmids are genetic upgrades of all sorts, presumably developed before the downfall of the city. You can shoot lightning or fire from your fingertips, or maybe you'd rather trick an enemy into fighting for you. There are flying and fixed sentry machines that you encounter along the way. These machines can be 'hacked' by solving a (sometimes) simple mini-game and then will work in your favor. The story (unusual for a FPS) is told by picking up tape recorders and listening to them. You can kind of piece together things along your journey. The city was at one time a beacon of civilization, but the tapes document a quick and steady decline into madness. Then there are the 'Big Daddies,' metal monsters who protect 'Little Sisters,' which are small girls who have been transformed into harvesters of dead bodies. The Big Daddies are huge, strong and they do not go down easily at all. In fact, they could be bosses in their own right. However, they aren't bosses at all. You don't even ever need to fight one throughout the game. Fighting them does give you access to more genetic upgrades then you would have otherwise, though. All in all, if you've ever like a single-player FPS you owe it to yourself to try out this game. It's absolutely mesmerizing. |

I've kept an eye on Bioshock since I heard about it. The makers of SystemShock 2 made it. I never played the whole game because the only way to get your hands on it is to spend $40 to get it shipped from Austrailia. But you can still download the demo. In Bioshock you will see some elements from SystemShock, like being able to upgrade your weapon and even create your own. I watched a trailer for Bioshock and was completely blown away. Not only are the graphics and story good, but you can interact with anything. Jars, boxes, Cash registers, etc. I wonder what the multiplayer would be like? One thing I've allways wanted to see in a multiplayer game is characteristics of a singleplayer game. Where one person can play the hero and everyone else plays the villans who attack him. So it would be just like a singleplayer game but all the bad-guys are real people not computer generated.
