Crysis: DX9 vs DX10 footage

Uploaded to AOA Files.

File can be found here

It's only a 33mb download, but it should show everyone the clear differences between DX9 and DX10.

DX10 is so hawt.

I cannot see for the life of me how the difference between those scenes can possibly warrant an upgrade to your PC equivalent almost to buying a PS3.

I could see a difference. I also could tell that the DX10 was a little lack on the performance side. A little choppy.

But does that difference warrant a £220 new Video Card and £100 on Vista?
I am not so sure.

I am not sure. I would probably spring for the card before Vista.

Agreed. I think I'd like to make sure my hardware is up to date first.
But for me, personally, Crysis does not present enough on its own to me to justify upgrading.

I'm pretty impressed with the dynamic of the game. The realism is pretty good to be honest. I am still not sure that it will run well on a medium machine. Mine to be exact, x2 3800 @ 2.7 and a 7900 GS. I think it will be a little laggy.

Because this is only the beginning. When DX10 becomes mainstream, you'd WISH you could refund your PS3.

Not bad, doesn't justify the cost of the card though does it?

I still think the DX9 is the DX10 card. That is why it looks so good. You can crank it all up.

You can get an 8600GTS for a little more than a 7900gs at the moment, DX10 isn't that expensive. The question is how well any midrange card whether DX9 or 10 can hold out in Crysis, from my experience with Lost Planet I am not too optimistic.

Well bare in mind that Crysis is built with DX10 from the ground up. The Lost Planet engine was patched to run in DX10, and it's certainly not by any means any yarstick for performance.

The same goes for Company of Heros and Call of Juarez.

Crysis will look better on DX10. In every single aspect, textures, soft shadows.... it'll be better. I am very curious how much speed would it sacrifice for the goodies.
