Yea, was watching the trailer for that the other day. Looks pretty sweet.

I'm still hanging out for Force Unleashed and GT5 though. FU is going to be some mad motion sensitive action, and GT, is just going to make every other racing game look like a joke by comparison.

Let me know when you start going under AP and I'll throw you a line!

AP has the right to post whatever he likes, pretty much where ever he want's. R. has the right to take note of this and comment.

AP has the right to regard these comments any way he thinks best.

dsio has the right idea about showers and long term commitments.

So far EVERYBODY has it right! ":O}

I'm not trying to beat a dead horse here. I just feel you guys got ripped off by XP. But that was your choice and I have zero problem with your choices.

I just don't like being forced to do what many volunteered for. On the bright side of things, this shouldn't be coming up for me again and I won't have to burden others with my disappointment.":O}
I get the idea, XP at its core is the same as Win2k. But MS did add a bunch of features around the periphery (especially after current service packs), that Win2k never got. Such as a theming system (especially nice once you crack the uxtheme dll and get some nice themes), FAR superior wireless support, internal firewall, etc.

Even assuming that they did rename some DLLs, thats their prerogative, its their product, its up to us to buy or not buy it. And 99% of gamers bought it, so now expect developers to cater to those 99% instead of you.

I can't expect MS to continue offering support for 2000 to users or developers, its a legacy product at this point. You are right that Redhat has progressed much more in the past 9 years than MS has in the same period. But they also had to, Win2k was a great operating system, and XP just added onto that. Redhat 6.2 on the other hand was utter crap, simple tasks like installing a program was damn near impossible without manually downloading 30 dependency files, and even then there were usually conflicts that prevented you from installing that program.

ap, your pc cost comparison to a ps3 is flawed, the only thing that you really need for gaming is the graphics card. Practically any decent system built in the last two years can play any game on the market on high settings with a graphics card that costs significantly less than a PS3. Or are you insinuating that you wouldn't own a PC if it weren't for gaming?

From what I can tell you want a game to run on any $50 graphics card, but you also want it to look better than games on your PS3 that cost $600. You're also using one of the worst examples possible in a poorly optimized Stalker game. Games from publishers like Valve and Epic scale incredibly well, the UT3 demo on my computer looks every bit as good as Gears of War did on my friends 720p tv. HL2: Episode 2 looks extremely realistic, and has great physics effects...it plays like butter on my machine with all settings on high, 8X aniso at 1680x1050 on the machine in my sig.

Actually, for me, this is pretty much settled and over, yet you raise interesting points...":O}

Did MS offer an OS that was just an update of XP, most say they did, as I'm sure you realize by now, I'm in no position to say, seems likely given my sources.

So you have a situation where MS provides me with an OS for a fee. Then they re-issue that OS under a stupid new name (XP) and want me to pay for it again.

Most do! (imagine my surprize! ":O}

Basically what your saying to me is that I must pay the price for not being as stupid as my fellows... I'm used to that! LOL

Some see what MS is doing as just good business. I hope to lend my influence to the idea that is is not good business, it cost you customers...ME! ":O}

I think Vista will answer my real question... Is there any **** that computer users will not eat from MS? Will we ever collectively say no to MS?

BTW 9 years...immaterial...what matters is weather it can still effectively function as it was designed to do. It can, with the slightest assistence it can and has been doing so for several years. I did not buy a nine year lic from MS.

(9 years is as arbitray a reason to dump W2K as I can think of.)

I'm not saying MS owes me more, I'm saying they owe me less interference, I understand that I'm in there way, despite the discomfort, there's no place I'd rather be.

Shortening Raphael to a single letter is the laziest thing I have ever seen.

You're using an alpha screenshot produced over a year before the game is on shelves as proof thats its not as good as a finished product that's been out for ages? And I have dirt. Its great, but it isnt GT.

Well I would argue that MS hasn't broken Windows 2000, and that developers could code for it if they took the trouble to. They chose not to, and your Win2k install works just as well as it did before, running the same apps as it did before. They weren't in your registries destroying your operating systems (I think we need an appropriate lolcatz picture).

MS is under no obligation to continue supporting Win2k as a development environment, while time is not a good reason for you to dump the product, it is for a company who has to spend money to continue supporting it. I don't know of any company that supports their product for 10 years, except maybe a few car companies.

I think that both of us could go on forever here, so perhaps it is best that we agree to disagree.
