The most anticaped?

16GBs? Freaking Vista doesn't use that much space. The rest doesn't seem too bad.

6800GT minimum? Thats faster than most of the Geforce 7 range and also some of the Geforce 8 range.

It's even faster than some Geforce 10 that are going to surface...

Anyone hoping that the xp/vista bit is just a typo?

If it is at least i've got xp on dual boot already for flight sim.

You think i will be able to run this at minimum settings, or am i just dreaming here? If it really requires a card with 256mb then i am screwed......but i really hope that i can squeeze by and run this game.

Actually, for arguably the most cutting edge game see in years, those minimum specs are not too bad.
Anyone with a PC bought/made in the last 2-3 years shouldn't have a problem. I've also heard it scales really well, meaning that running it on minimum doesn't mean it looks like a game made 5 years ago.

Looks like a reasonable Min spec for a game of this magnitude. Huge HDD requirement though. Here's to hoping that the game files aren't actually that big.

In related news, downloading games from services like steam is convenient and all, but imagine downloading 16 gigs of game files over the web. Your ISP would have a fit!

May not be. Downloaded the demo, would not run in 2000 pro. Downloaded it in Steam, would not run in 2000 pro, this is becoming a trend. Un able to build a better OS than pro, MS seems to be actively killing it...unless you wish to believe that game developers on their own decide to toss 2000 pro dollars out the window...

Looks like I may be nearing the end to my windows gaming... I just can't get myself to bend and phone Bill for his approval of what I do with my hardware. Ah well, games were all that kept me in windows anyway...good riddance!

It's a new world everyday! ":O}

Seems the specs posted were posted by mistake, and are incorrect.

You can bet I'll use Pro until I can't...or Fedora becomes better than pro at running games...or Fedora becomes my only choice.... good to still be in the running! ":O}

I believe it...there aren't many gamers still running Windows2000. Why would they invest resources in supporting an 8 yr old OS (which includes patches, and tech support), when there are only like 5 people running that OS who want to play Crysis.

I don't believe that MS has to pay anyone to get them to stop supporting Win2k for gamers (now business users is another story).

I loved Win2k too, but developers can't keep supporting it forever, thats why I moved on to XP exclusively like 3 years back.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were something along those lines but with 2K support. But I'd think all 7 series cards would be supported too.

Some how the fact that XP and pro use exactly the same drivers, ran all the same games at XPs release and the whole Direct X 10 BS surrounding Vista and XP makes me at lest doubt their intentions toward me.

BTW FAR FAR more people game in 2000 pro than in Vista. Developers don't have to support it, they already do. They need to stop supporting it, they need to look at XP and look at Pro and find a way to run on one but not the other.

Look logic states you release to the largest number of paying customers you can, without incurring greater costs. They had to work to get games to run in XP but not pro. There had to be some incentive to do that work as the two OS are essencially the same.

Why did every game prior to Vista's release run equally well on XP and Pro, but now games are coming out that run XP but not pro. Show me the advantage to XP users of doing it this way. Show me what XP users gained by cutting Pro loose and making games that don't run on it?

Can I prove any of this, no. Can others, most likely, I didn't just make all this up myself, people helped me make it up! ":O}

I paid for Pro, when I did, I never expected that even MS would one day sabotage my OS to force an upgrade I don't need or want. Just one man's take on his world...":O}

I think that a lot of the games that don't "support" 2k may still run, or run with some hacking but won't be officially supported by the developers.

Well, Vista did manage to add the ability to cancel synchronous I/O as well as the ability to kill a process that's mid synchronous I/O...
