A few PS3 questions...

I am having real trouble adjusting to the controller, I find it slow and imprecise compared to my PC gaming with keyboard and mouse or joystick. Is their a more ACCURATE , FASTER controller than the stock controller?

The recent Playstation updates have helped me with my set up! Until not I couldn't get 5.1 indicator lights on my Sound receiver to work with the PS3 sound...now they do! ":O}

Did anyone else have this problem?

Lastly...Drakes Fortune is about all I've played seriously...What are your favorite PS3 games and if possible why? I'm really only interested in 1st person shooters...despite my affection for 3rd person Drake...":O}

What's the Buzz on FarCry 2 , Quake wars and some of the other action releases coming up?

TIA for any help or just the company...":O}

Favourite PS3 title so far; LittleBigPlanet. It got delayed for some religious references in one of the songs, but I still managed to get my hands on the first batch. I've been waiting a year and a half for this game, I'm not going to wait another 3 weeks. =P

FarCry 2 and Fallout 3 are the other two biggies worth considering when they get released (I believe FC2 is already out).

LittleBigPlanet, though, it's just so much fun! I've been playing it religiously! It's a good job it's not a flop like Spore was. =)

Sadly, not. Some games will let you use a Keyboard and Mouse, but certainly not on Multiplayer. Good games should compensate this with either auto or smooth aiming.

At the moment, I'm very much enjoying Call of Duty 4's multiplayer and Far Cry 2 is actually very good, if absolutely nothing to do with the original.

Any controller which is significantly different to the stock controller would require specific support in the game, something which is unlikely to happen, except for steering wheels in racing games.

I don't think Sony is all that keen on keyboard and mouse, because they want their console to reside in people's living rooms, rather than on desks. So, that it has more potential to be used as a home's main entertainment system, for movies, music, and games.

Thank you one and all...all were most helpful....and good company! I'm FINALLY making peace with my controller, it 's just a different gaming experience and I needed to get use to it...finding and USING the Auto aim helps quite a bit...something I'd never do in PC games. I can only use my wrists and shoulders off and on due to chronic pain...mostly I'm ON lately ...which is good! ":O}

I started playing call of Duty again two days ago...COMPLETELY different from my fist experience, new to the PS3 I was stuck in night vision and everything was to dark to see without them and to bright with them and I couldn't remember which key....I'm dead again....you get the picture! ":O}

Drake was always great! but for some reason CoD was completely messed up when I first tried it..who knows what I did wrong, but I nearly gave up on my PS3...What shame that would have been! CoD ROCKS just as diso kept telling me it does! LOL

My PS3 ROCKS just as all of you were telling me it does.... I think I less than rocked for a while there in the beginning...":O}

I'll go for Far Cry 2, look into LittleBigPlanet and probably go for Fallout 3 a bit later if it pleases the masses. ":O}

Has anyone popped for a Dual shock? Or played Fallout3? Pitch, your recommendation is more than enough to get me to order Farcry 2, shame it's nothing like 1, but if your enjoying it I'm sure I will.":O}

I made my peace without Dualshock a while back. Doubt most older games will ever support it and I've now rather got used to the lighter controller.

Still bummed that after buying the PS3 I have to pay MORE for games than for my PC? How does that make sense, isn't it easier/cheaper to port to the PS3 than than a PC?

in any case FarCry 2 just arrived at new egg and is on the way.

Dunno, but the PS3 games do get cheaper when the go platinum:
Play.com (UK) - Free Delivery - PlayStation3 - PLATINUM PS3 GAMES

Do they do those in the USA?

Since all development is done on the PC, I guess not.

Also we seem to pay a small premium for Blu-Ray. Over here, Xbox games are consitantly £5 cheaper in most high streets, with only the biggest e-tailers swallowing the extra price of the PS3 games and selling them at equal costs. And to make matters worse, the PS3 consistanly gets the **** end of the stick in cross platform releases.

And the current trend for mandatory installs is getting on my tits. Why can my 360 play the Game from a 9GB DVD, yet my PS3 needs 5 mins prior to playing to install the game from it's 25/50GB Blu-ray, with zero discernable difference in load times?

Somebodies taking the piss.

I've had to install a 160GB drive to cope with the game installs.

What fun if you bought a 40 Gig! How many games were you able to load before you had to expand your storage. How did you go about expanding?

Probably had about 10 games installed, plus some downloaded games and demos, which will take up a lot of space.

Fitting a new hard drive takes about 2 minutes. There's a hatch on the bottom of the case which allows you to get at the hard drive.

I only had one controller for the PS3 when the dualshock came out, so I ended up getting one. Personally, I prefer it. It has a much more solid and heavy feeling in your hands than the original. I don't really think that the improvements are reason enough to upgrade if you've already got enough controllers, but if you're looking for another I'd recommend getting the DS.

As for fallout 3, it doesn't come out for a few more days. The 28th I believe. I don't believe you'll have problems finding reviews for it soon, because it's one of the biggest releases this holiday season.

I'm glad you liked Drake's Fortune as well. Reading review for that game was one of the things that got me to buy a PS3 in the first place and I find it to be the best PS3-exclusive game that I've played so far. Extremely cinematic and engrossing, with some excellent voice acting and intense action scenes. Really, the only problem that I had with it was the occasionally frustrating combat and cover system. Once I got used to the way it worked, I didn't have much of a problem though.

EDIT: Forgot to mention Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction. I found this to be just about neck and neck with Uncharted, though it's in a different genre. It's kind of a platformer with a third-person shooter focus. I played through it a couple times and really got my money's worth out of it. I really wouldn't mind forwarding it to you in the mail if you'd like, Dan.

We need to talk! ":O}

First off...do you have MotorStorm? A fun racer, but I'm not into racers, Might we trade?

Oh wow! I just thought, are PS3's regional like DVD players and the like?

I've looked at Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction.... several times...but money is tight!":O}

Have you got Unreal Tournament? I wasn't to wild about it, but if you haven't played it you might enjoy a bit of it. Great eye candy.

PM me, I'm sure we can benefit each other.":O}

Can one of you help me move past theses recent hours of frustration? ":O}

It's game dependent, so check out the Game Options.
