For those who have it all...or just the parts they like...

What is your favorite gaming platform and why? Please feel free to say anything that seems important to you in making a gaming choice...Do you prefer one platform or concole for one type of game and yet another for a different type?

I prefer the PC because of the keyboard and mouse. For some reason I have never understood, i've never been able to use joysticks on a controller. They have always felt awkward and uncomfortable.

Does anyone share this 'problem' ?

Depends on the game.

My main games were C&C and Space Empires. I still enjoyed Oblivion as well. These I would only play on the PC.

But since the main rig died (waiting till after uni exams to look into it further), all my gaming has been on the wii.
COD3, and wii sports at the moment. FPS games espically with swords are best swinging the wiimote I've had fun with a few games I have hired from the local video store.

Of the three I have, (360, PS3 and PC) I play the 360 the most. That's not to say I like it the best, however.

For Games, I almost certainly prefer the PC. It looks better, multiplayer is free (and reliable) and I have the ability to map controls the way I want them, not select from a plethora of stupidly named presets, (Because Southpaw Freegunner is cool right?).

Still, the 360 has a nice pick up and play quality, and I can play it in bed, which rocks -plus, I know a few female gamers, which don't give a rats ass about my Uber PC which can play games at 24x Antialiasing. Which leads onto my point about despite the deficite in visual quality, the games are fun, and I find myself caring less and less about jaggies and more and more about kicking peoples ass at Dead or Alive and Soul Calibar.

My PS3 gets mainly used for watching Blu Rays and upscaled DVDs (which, I might add, it does a fine job of). It's quiet too which is a bonus. Sadly, in my eyes, gaming is both cheaper, and generally more rewarding on the 360, bar the platform exclusives, Metal Gear 4 and Little Big Planet.

As for the Wii, we have one at my Local, and it only seems fun when drunk. Kinda like setting your hair on fire or dancing naked on a stall.

The wii is not for serious gamers. But wielding a sword is alot of fun.

I see many games going the way of the console. Allowing for a keyboard and mouse, a browser, and email client, I think many people will go for that over a conventional PC. Even though there is not much of a difference between them anymore.

Personally I like my strategy games, and wish someone would come out with a decent space sim like Privateer II The Darkening. These can only really be enjoyed with a mouse and keyboard.

Depends on the game for me. Games like Fallout 3/Oblivion I'd prefer to play with keyboard and mouse, so I'll go PC with those. Strategy games on consoles tend to be horrible as well.

I do love me some console games though. I still remember the first time I played through Metal Gear Solid. Of the three current consoles, I far prefer the Xbox 360. While both consoles have some good exclusive content now, Live is great and I just flat out prefer the Xbox interface to that of the PS3. The XMB on the PS3 is adequate, but I never really liked the way it handled (even on the PSP.) It feels kind of cold and clinical, where the Xbox interface feels more intuitive to me.

That being said, while America loves both the Xbox and PS3 it seems like the rest of the world more or less ignores the Xbox (Japan especially.)

The Xbox 360 is as popular in the UK.

2.3m units in UK, and 10.5m in the USA. Factor in the smaller population, and it's about the same.

My stepdaughter brought over her boyfriends Wii while the kids where here during the summer. I can see why that system has sold so many and why it's doing as well as it has been. It TRUELY bring family together in a good time. If my kids where still home and I was planning on getting a system the Wii is where it would be.

Now that I've been here at my brother in laws, he has an X box 360 and has been playing the lastest COD. I godda at admit the graphics look amazing. So if the kids are not around then I would get a 360 hands down.

Out of the ones I have (PS3, PC, Wii), I find my time most spent on the PS3. I've had a 360 for a short time, and I was an avid Xbox fan, but the PS3 is just too, too good.

As many of you might remember, I used to be a hardcore PC gamer. But in the last year, I've noticed a massive decline in PC Gaming - everything that's worth playing is on the PS3. The only game I really still play on the PC is Age Of Conan.

It's true that for as long as we live, native PC gamers can never truly understand how to master a controller.

Because they suck. =/

My preferred platform is the PS3. After years of PC Gaming it is starting to lose it's appeal. I just don't have the time, money or ambition to keep up with PC Gaming anymore. I just get tired of playing games that tax my sig rig when graphics quality is set to medium and the AI is semi-retarded.. Crysis is an example of this, great graphics, good storyline, decent gameplay but the AI for the enemies falls way short of making you feel like you accomplished something when you beat the game..

With the PS3 I throw a game in and enjoy, plus that is just the tip of the iceberg with the PS3.

As most here know I was squeezed out of PC gaming due to my resistence to the MS way of Operating their OS system...ie fewer and fewer games play on 2000 pro. So I've gone PS3.

I miss PC gaming...a fair bit! But 2 things happened to help me out. I've gotten use ( some what) to the PS3 controller and! I 'm playing CoD4 and R6 V2, both of which have "improved" aiming....Aiming was my biggest complaint with the controller...

Basically I'm still new to PS3 and am having a good time in discovery! ":O}

Arrow

Maybe some of you still remember this, but the last gaming console I played on was the Atari with Space Invaders & games like that...
Yea, I'm that old...

Ever since I got a PC & got use to using the KB & Mouse I never looked back at console gaming again. Then again, who would want to go back to the Atari after playing PC games???

At a 25% extra cost, and I can't think of any cross platform game I'd rather play on a console rather than a PC.

I won't go on my usual rant about consoles...
The only time I played on a console is when I didn't have a computer. Once I played Half-Life and Star Trek Voyager, I was hooked. Now I have 4 gaming machines for lan parties and I've turned into a collector.
I have so many games (lots of free ones) that I don't even know what to do with them. I don't get burned out with PC games because I enjoy so many different genres.
I like FPS (of course), Puzzle (Myst), racing, arcade, and even the old school Dos games. I never get tired of them because there is always a new mod or old game to try out.

I think people are ignoring the fact that while there is some overlap, some games just simply work better (or exclusively) on either a console or PC. Has anybody played Rock Band? It's an absolute blast to play with some buddies, but it would never work as a PC title. Games like WoW are simply too complicated to work on consoles as well. If you're just a RTS/FPS/MMO guy, you'd be quite happy with just a PC. Otherwise, you're just limiting yourself.
