PS3 Blue Ray malfuctions!

At one year and five days (5 days after warranty expires) my PS3 stopped reading or showing disks that I insert. ( Game disks and DVD/BlueRAY movie disks.

That's the bad news. The good news is that I bought a 5 year extended warranty though Newegg. Called yesterday. They will call back in 2-3 days and make arrangements for what looks like an in home repair...

The BIG downside is that Yesterday was Patti's birthday and we had three movies rented when it went out. We were 1/2 way through a movie, I hit pause to grab a bowl of cereal, came back to a splash screen saver, thought "To cool Blur Ray disks have screen savers!"

But I ended up having to re boot to get out of it. Now everything works on the PS3 EXCEPT the blueRay drive....even it will remote eject and loads properly...it just doesn't show up as a BD-Rom or as a slash screen of the disk... the system just doesn't see it.

Anyhow I thought my fellow PS3'ers would want to know of such things.

Hi Dan. I just went and took a look and things have changed! Luckily New egg keeps everything if you long hard enough! ":O}

Extended Warranty Fee $89.99 (5 years)
Subtotal $614.97
Tax $0.00
UPS Ground $13.77
Order Total $628.74

I had some HDMI cables on the bill as well $24.. for the cables. Newegg doesn't offer anywhere near as good a deal today!!

"Service Net Replacement Extended Warranty Plan"

The product will be replaced and shipped directly to you at no charge(more info0.18)

* 1 year: $39.99
* 2 year: $82.99

I guess there's a lot of warrenty work on the PS3...?

I'm sure $89.99 is a lot less than a typical repair, so you got a good deal there.

Maybe it's just a dirty lens? Have you tried one of those lens cleaner cd/dvd's?

Might work?!?!?!

Didn't think of that. But as it played beauteously until I paused it, then it couldn't find a disk....any disk after that, I think it needs more than a cleaning....BUT! I promise that if the repairman looks at me and sadly smiles as he tears great chunks of dust and dirt from my box....I'll let you know! ":O}

(I'm pretty anal about keeping it clean and that's not just hot air!!...":O}

((GROSS!!!))
