Question Retro racing games

Racing games don't seem as common as they were in the old days of gaming. Which ones do you recall fondly from the pre Gran Turismo era? Super Sprint on NES was a classic.

NES Super Sprint

Atari 2600 Bump N' Jump

Bump N' Jump Firebird

Hey 8bit! Welcome back to the forums! :thumbusp:

I really liked Twisted Metal on the Playstation. I liked to play the character of Sweet Tooth. Strictly speaking though, Twisted Metal wasn't a Racer.

Pole Position on the 5200 wasn't too bad.

Yeah, Twisted Metal was great on the Playstation.
I found it as abandonware online for free, but it doesn't play audio.

Grand Tourismo is also one of the original realistic graphics

Ah, Super cars was good. The first racing game I played was probably Night Driver, and the second racing game was probably Revs.

What am I saying????
I love playing the old Legends PC game with the 1920's Grand Prix cars.
It has been modded in the last 7-8 years to the point of simulation racing.
Its very cool.
I have the original game and the mods.

Thx Gizmo, and btw, there was an even better version of Pole Position on the later Atari 7800 console. Amazing how many ports of that game there were, there were some for the Atari home computers too (400 & 800 machines).
