Ladies (and those who game with ladies) I NEED YOUR HELP!!

Okay, ladies, I need your input here. Guys, if you really know what women want, you can help me out too.

My girlfriend and I are going away for a few days, and I'm bringing along the dreamcast and playstation 2 (she's bringing along her laptop and The Sims, so don't act like I'm some video game addict), and I'd like to get her interested in gaming. As mentioned, she likes playing The Sims, and has expressed interest in playing other games. But I'd like to get some games she may be interested in. Since I'm taking the PS2, I can play both PS2 and PSX games.

What kind of games should I bring along to get her interested?

Bring TEKKEN 3!

I was in about the same situation as you bro. I had borrowed my friends PSX one time, and my GF didn't want to play anything. I persuaded her to at least TRY a game of tekken, and she LOVED it!

Now who would have guessed? She is more of a Sim-gamer as well, playing SimCity 3K, the Sims and Simfarm a lot.

Good luck!!

Yeah, I've got a pretty firm anti-MMORPG policy. That game is not an option.

I'm thinking of bringing some RPGs along the lines of Final Fantasy (I'll ask my roommates which one they think she'll like best). I'm also taking SSX, Jet Grind Radio, Sonic Adventure, Chu Chu Rocket, Marvel vs Capcom and MvC2. I may check what my roommates have. If she gets into RPGs I may get her hooked on Lunar. I hear that's a great RPG.

If you find something that works let me know, Patti ~ won't even look at a game, not even the best eye candy moves her, not even a little!!

What systems? I could suggest a few, but no guarantees. Have you tried The Sims? I've had success with that. Possibly some of the anime based role playing games. Try Lunar or Lunar 2. They do require quite a bit of time, but I think she'd like them.

Only if she would try them, which she won't! I think there's a game gene, one a person has which elevates them to near God-hood or they don't and must content themselves with a real life! LOL

A real stick-in-the-mud.....

Yep. Life's too short!

Two things I've just got no time for:

Games

Housecleaning

To each her/his own!

Sounds like you're SOL. If she has no interest, trying to force them into it will only make them hate it.

I've found Jet Grind Radio and (Esp) Sonic Adventure to be fairly good that way. OTOH, I'm lucky that my GF is probably more into games than I am! She'll play SSX Tricky too occasionally.

By the way, something I remembered last night: the same friend who got her interested in The Sims also mentioned WarCraft, and my lady expressed interest in it. Since I have a few old copies of WarCraft (if I can get it to work) I'll try and get her to play (setup doesn't like finding the sound under XP if I recall right).

Out of the final fantasies I have played on PSX (7,8 and 9) I would say 7 is best.
Me and my mates have played through so many times and spent so many hours on that game its a crime.
8 is slightly worse and 9 I just found abysmal.
My brother's girlfriend loves platform games with cute graphics (Rayman, Jak and Dexter, Pandemonium etc..). Games with lots of gore or feature just purely ripping people apart tend to get a no no (how she can not find GTA3 entertaining is beyond me).
She also enjoys puzzle games. There was one where you played a floating beach ball but I cant remember the name (Kurushi or something).

She started FF8, but just didn't get into it. Surprising thing was, she really got into fighting games. She loved DoA2, Marvel vs Capcom 1 and 2 and Soul Caliber. I was shocked!

ChronoTrigger for the SNES was the best RPG ever made. Give it a try if you still have an SNES.

I did not say that I downloaded an emulator and a rom. I didn't even mention that you can (very easily). I do not suport software piracy.

Funny you should mention. My roommate has both an SNES and ChronoTrigger.
