after gettin my old computer i have dusted off some of my old, old games and even pulled one in from ebay O_O

Tie Fighter Collectors CD ROM, the original X-WING (+ imperial pursuit and B-wing) in these games the music actually suites the gameplay.

X-wing Vs Tie Fighter (also balance of power campaigns) (Eeebay )

and i have bought an old old old old dos game called : "Quarantine" <-- anyone remember this

edit :- as for new games: get quake2, d/l latest 3.2 patch, get one of the well known modified q2's (since id released source code) i recommend something like sulq2, i hear beefquake is good, r1gl. the first and last of these support png skins and have lotsa stuff, lots of it ripped from the middle one.
- and last but not least get gloom (yes its still alive) get latest mappak, a pak editor, start customizing, d/l some custom models/skinsget glooming </free gloom adrevt>

There are lots of great games out there for cheap. Anymore I can't hardly justify buying a new game right away. In just a little while they go from $50 to almost nothing.
And the good part is the hardware you are currently running will probably run the game.
And for the really old games try "The Underdogs".

I hear ya screamin'
Some games you just got to go out and pick up a game as soon as it hits the shelves. But other games...

I just picked up Elite force for $5. It is an awesome game.

I just bought a game. Age of Mythology
It has consumed my life for the past few days
I dont like buying games when they get really cheap, because everyone is tired of them by that time and nobody wants to play you

Your mostly right about people getting tired of the game. But I got to say Not All!
The old games that I play, I can still find enough players to keep me happy.
