HDD to HDD Swap

HDD to HDD swap.
i have a 4.2g scsi that i have been using to boot/run. has a lot of good stuff on it. have new 40g ide. i want to move all the good stuff from the 4.2g to the 40g. os is win98se on both.
will I boot the 40g as C, then just move the files from the 4.2g D?
sounds so simple. I am a hammer mechanic.

All you need is a ghost program. Give the 40gig, 2 partitions, first 1 big, second 1 small. Then make a ghost image of your current scsi drive onto your new little partition. Then make the 4gig the boot partition in the bios, boot from the ghost floppy again and restore the image to your big drive. The OS will not even know what happened. If you have a partition manager as well, you can get rid of the little partition and stretch out your new C:.

Good Luck.

Ghost is a great and reliable program, but you say you want to move all the "good stuff" to the new 40 gig hard drive. What does that include? If it is documents and music and such, you won't have to ghost the entire hard drive.

You say win98 is installed on both, so you can just set your 40 gig to boot, and have the scsi hd as a secondary hd. Then transfer the files you want to the new hard drive.

If you want to move programs and games as well, you should follow the ghost route though.

Good luck with it!
