Other than compatibility, what is the difference between DVD+R and DVD-R?General performane etc.

+ is newer technology, and is supposed to be able to burn faster, at least theoretically... 12x drives are already available.
- is older, and is supposed to be hitting its limits in terms of speed.
Upcoming dual layer burners are supposed to be based on the + technology.
When in doubt, get a drive that can handle both.... or wait for dual layer.
