USB connector question

OK, this may sound like a dumb question, but here I go. I want to add a combo floppy drive/compact flash, smart media, SD drive to my PC. It will take a floppy drive ribbon as well as a USB plug to use the features I described. The USB plug needs to be connected to the mobo 4 pin header. In order to do that, I need to unplug the already plugged in connector to the USB connectors in the front of the PC case. I would rather not disconnect that.

Does anyone know of an adapter to provide additional headers on a mobo or a cable that will split a cable connected to the USB header on a mobo to accommodate additional USB devices? Keep in mind the cable must have a 4 pin female connector on one end and at least 2 4 pin male connectors on the other end.

So far I have not been able to locate anything like that. I can't even figure out how to describe when searching the internet. Nobody local (CompUSA, Bestbuy, PC Shops) seems to have anything. Even the USB PCI cards I find have the USB Type A connector, not the 4 pin connection I need.

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like what you are describing is a USB hub.

USB is a point-to-point protocol, so you can't just patch off of it like an extension cord. That's why so many mobos come with 6 or eight USB ports these days.

Or am I misunderstanding your question?

Could you post a picture of the connector you are looking for?
