So, what do people who have more than one machine they normally use do?

May be we need a new poll titled "what CPU do you have lying around, but don't use?" :|

Well, I like the VIA CPUs for embedded tasks like firewall/VPN. The Athlons seem to make a reasonable media center, and the Pentium-M makes a good laptop. (Yes, I *know* the Pentium-M isn't up there). So, I have a favourite depending what task I'm doing!

Yea, but I play games alot on my A64. On the other hand, P4 at work is much better for compiling and running the programs I'm working on. When I look at it, I'd rather be playing games, so my A64 is my fav!

I used to game lots, but between AOA, work and a life, I just don't get the time any longer. I guess that's why I prefer different systems for different usage.

i would have to say that my preference is AMD all the way. however it is not to say that intel makes bad cpu's. they both have their ups and downs. as far as sheer power AMD wins. but for things like multitasking, intel is the winner. it's really a matter of preference. but for gaming AMD is the way to go!

The 68000 series is a really nice series of CISC processors, and pretty darn easy to program too!

Oooh, yeah. I LOVE the 68K architecture. The 68040 would get my vote. All the features of the '030, better FP performance, and the bus interface was better so that it was easier to design with.

I understand the Coldfire family is the 68k reborn. Anybody worked with them?
