There's actually a good story. The memory business (including flash) is very cyclical. Prices has been very high for the last 2 years.... That's about to change. New capacity has cropped up, and in the next 6 to 9 months, we're supposed to see a glut in the market. This will translate to low prices... Historically, when memory prices come down, they tank. Good news for us. Bad news for mfgrs. Maybe next summer.

I'm not sure if the recent drop is a start, or just holiday pricing, and I can't complain. I picked up 4 gigs of memory recently, at $160 a gig... HyperX, good stuff too.

Sorry ELRocco, but our rules don't permit ads or graphics in our signatures unless they are AOA related.

About 15 years ago when most PCs had 640K of memory our Novell server at work had a memory expansion card with, I think 8MB of RAM. It cost about £4000 for that memory, that was about $8000 back then! But I think there were only about 2 factories producing RAM at that time and there were major shortages.

I remember reading on the front of a top UK PC mag about 3-4 terraherz RAM becoming available for the year 2005, that was announced in 2000. What's happened there?

The man who invented it says it'll cost just £50 to make and it will be half the size of a credit card. It says a lot about todays prices.

You missed about the "dramuri" price-fixing scandal? prices will tank by september. first major fall should be in about a month or so, i think. look for 512mb ddr400 for about $45 USD..at least that's what i expect.
