PSU - Enermax, Thermal Take, OCZ or PC Power & Cooling

Hi

I need a new PSU to the computer i'm about to buy. The computer looks like this:

Athlon 64 3200+ 90nm
DFI Lanparty NF4 SLI-DR
1x Leadtek 6800GT (2 when i can afford it)
2x 512mb GSkill PC4800 TCCD
4x Hitachi 7K250 120GB

The PSU needs to meet the folowing requirements
  • It should be able to deliver power to this computer, even in heavily overclocked condition.
  • It should have the necessary connectors for the SLI setup
  • It should be "born" with a 24pins ATX connector

Here's the psu's i've been looking at

Which of the above mentioned PSU would you choose, and why?

Enermax. They are one of the most efficient brands, so you'll have lower electric bills and run cooler and they are one of the most reliable brands.

I'd also recomend the noisetaker line as well as they are quite quiet

you will be running a system almost identical to what im running, see in my sig.

i use an Enermax 431W PSU and its been running for 4 years on varying setups, never a hitch. very well designed thermal management system with variable fan speed controls, fan rpm cables for attatching to mobo, extremely quiet fans with good airflow. allows be great overclocking on both my 90nm CPU and my 6800GT. Very consistant voltages at all times.

Thermal take is pretty good as well, but overpriced. OCZ is dubious in terms of quality, and that 600W PSU will be expensive to run (i know its not drawing 600W all the time but the OCZs are tremendously inefficient, it still uses more power than any of the others) as for PC Power and cooling... who are they? :\

I'm using a Thermaltake 480w Butterfly, and it is rock solid. The fans move alot of air tho, and create some noise because of the sheer amt of air...not the fans themselves.

I've ordered an X-Connect 500w, and apparantly they now come with pci-e power connectors, but you will also find that alot of the higher quality 6800's that require the power connector will come with a dual 4 pin molex to pci-e power connector in the box, so it's almost just a matter of having 4 free molex connectors.

I have read of alot of people having problems with the OCZ power supplies, so i would veer a bit clear of those, but all those complaints could have come from one bad batch that had an issue that has since been resolved.

yea, word has it their el cheapo PSUs are ok, but higher end products have some power management issues as well as the fact that they run at ungodly temperatures, while producing alot of noise. OCZ is a relatively new company with some good products in its line up but they seam to be a bit flakey. They want to climb in the ring with the big boys in every market they compete for. They consider themselves on par with corsair in terms of ram, but arnt, (they may use the same high quality ram chips as corsair, samsung, geil etc but in terms of pcb design they lag behind) and in the PSU market they consider themselves to be premium suppliers. Its like comparing a hot civic to a 911. it may go as fast but you can feel the cheapness. Thats my opinion anyway...
