agp4x motherboard with agp8x grahics card?

Hello,
I have an epox ep8kha+ motherboard with amdxp1800+ cpu.
I would like to run a nvidia 6600gt, which is agp 8x.

The motherboard is supposedly an agp4x, but the epox site lists that it will not work with some agp8x cards.

What does this mean?
Will this work?

Sorry If this is a stupid question, im still pretty new to this stuff.

Thankyou,
Cameron McDonald

Theoretically they should go well together.. just like a high speed memory used on a motherboard that doesn't support that max speed.
You also have an option in the Nvidia driver to set what agp speed you want.

Just how much of a difference does AGP8x make? I had a AGP8x complient card and an AGP4x motherboard a while ago, I upgraded the motherboard to one which supported AGP8x and didnt really notice any framerate difference at all...
