what a budget system!

Well, since my mum isn't too keen on spending £400+ for the a64 setup i wanted, i've been planning again and i've decided to go with different components. I was really keen on the first setup but if it's not going to be an option, then i thought that i should try to make a plan to fallback on if i don't get enough from working at currys. Here's what i have:

PNY Verto GeForce 6200 128Mb DDR AGP 8X TV-Out Retail Box
DFI LANPARTY UT nF3 250Gb SKT754 8 Channel Audio LAN RAID - Retail Box
AMD Sempron 3000+ (SDA3000BXBOX) 64 Bit Architecture 1.8Ghz Skt 754 Boxed
OCZ Value 1GB DDR400 PC3200 CL 3-4-4-8 (LIFETIME WARRANTY)
Ebuyer 500w PSU/ATX/P4 Ready in Black with dual fans

I know the PSU is pretty generic buti'm leaving that as it is. I've decided to go with AGP on this one but still with DFI and a Sempron 64 which is just as fast at stock as the A64 3000+ venice. I've got OCZ Ram in there and a PNY verto GeForce 6200 AGP. I know it's not that glamerous but at least it's more upgradeable than what i have now. I think it's the best budget system for under £300 with delivery and VAT. I'm still going with 64 simply because i want to.

I really, really really really recomend against powering a S754 system from a generic psu, 500W or not, it will limit overclocking, make it less stable and potenitally cause damage.

No Enlights are still solid as far as I know, but the E-buyer ones look to be a veritable assortment of rebadged brands. do you have a link to that one? we may be able to uncover its true identity

Well, I know you live in the UK, so I can only show you items to get and not a good place to get them from :/. Anyways, the Value "VX" is by far the best RAM ever made, lol, and it goes for 85 USD. I've got a set and if you'll look at my sig you will see why it's the best.

haha, lol, 229mhz at 2-2-2-5! Anyway, here's a link to the PSU: http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=86228

It's got on fan on the top/bottom and one on the side. It's got a 5 star rating from 12 reviews though.

Oh, another thing. Take those eBuyer customer reviews with a very large pinch of salt. Maybe even a bucket full of salt.

I agree, most are probably not there from people building systems for them selfs and so it goes in, works, gets the thumbsup, and things like overclocking, stability, and long term damage aren't taken into account and certainly not efficiency

I'd say it's worth trying to scrape together enough for a good ATX V2 psu and considering it an investment, that way you'll have a psu that even a couple of years down the line, can probably still power a new dual core system, will save money on the electricity, and offer the peace of mind that you won't need an extinguisher next to the pc
