Wow that's crazy but i would assume it wouldn't be too stable though it sounds like he managed to do a fair bit.

Liquid nitrogen. 77 degrees kelvin. Or -196 C for the non-chemistry minded people.

And we wondered why the Akhibara section of Tokyo always got the latest tech before we did? Hard core, those Japanese.

77K? That's still 74 from being super-conducting temperature! Imagine if they got it that low, you could have monster PCs!

Yes...and no. There are just as many others doing the same the world over. Like me... and Pitch, and Danrok...and Bradmax...pretty sure we've all gone below zero more than once.

Actually, at that point, silicon stops being a insulator, and becomes a conductor.

You'd be surprised...but some of the faster machines are owned by ]-[ackers, of either variety. Brute force still works. 1 on 1, it's who's fastest, and machine speed can be a big factor

7.1Ghz! It is only possible with liquid nitrogen and you do need to be very careful. The thing is, nitrogen is found in air but to make it liquid costs quite a bit i imagine. How long would it stay in liquid form at those temperatures though?

No wrong. Helium turns into a superconductor at 3K. YBCO (Yttrium Barium Copper Oxide) turns into a superconductor at 77K. Which is liquid nitrogen. I fiddled with it physics a few months back.

A good metal to use in heatpipes would be the one that turns into a gloopy puddle when it's in your hands. I've forgotten what it's called but used in conjuntion with a small container of liquid nitrogen, i reckon it could become quite a good method of heat extraction because it would evaporate and cool so quickly. But anyway, using nitrogen is like using a peltier except much cooler. What about doing something like this to a GPU! The most advanced GPU in the world is what i'd say.
