Usually there is a button on the receiver you need to push to reset, then push the button on the mouse to get the two communicating!

Which buttons did you try?

My mouse has a small reset button on its underside. The receiver has one as well. Need to press them both at the same time or near enough the same time. They should then hunt for each other.

What kind of popups did you get when you plugged in the USB dongle? Also, is it a USB 2.0 interface and does the system you are installing it on have USB 2.0?

I'm guessing not if it is either of the systems in your sig. What OS are you running? Certain OSs have no USB support or crappy USB support. I'm not sure of any other possible issues off the top of my head.

i've got it plugged into my Nexxtech 2 port 2.0 USB Card, and i can't remember what pop ups appeared originally, none pop up anymore when i unplug it and plug it back in. I'm using Win XP Pro corporate Edition with Service Pack 2

it's in the first system btw, not the dell

It's just a licensing issue...they are the same otherwise

I'd unplug it, restart and plug it back in (With a regular mouse attached) just to see if it's detected. You can also check in device manager to see if it's detected. I THINK the mouse should be detected irregardless of comunication between mouse and wireless reciever? You need a way to decide if this is a hardware or software issue. I'd make sure USB legacy support was enabled in bios and maybe boot to a linux Knoppix live boot CD (I have found these to be really handy for testing hardware)

Knoppix

or a system partition utility that supports mice.

Just a few thoughts, hope you find them helpfull.

Indeed, check in the device manager that the USB device is actually detected!

Technically, there's no such thing as "corporate edition" - it is precisely the same as XP Pro without the activation.
