Ricoh CDRW RW7083A

I have a Ricoh RW7083A drive and it acts up. Technically it was a "cendyne" branded ricoh purchased from Office Max. However support from cendyne is minimal to none! Basically what happens is this. Whenever I try to burn a music disc, it makes discs that won't play anywhere else. I get crackly, hissing sound quality, and the discs will skip in all other players such as in the car, the home stero etc..... Would would cause this? Would the discs themselves be slightly incompatible with the Ricoh? Or is the Ricoh just going bad or something?

The discs I used were hp CDR 52X maximum speed. The Ricoh RW7083A is only an 8x8x32 speed drive.
