AMD Trounces Intel in Dual Core Showdown

Remember those ads that AMD ran a while back, challenging Intel to a dual core showdown? Well, Intel refused to take the bait, but apparently CNet thought it a worthwhile thing to look at. According to CNet, AMD is the clear winner across the board.

So, do you think the tests were fair, or were they biased in AMD's favor? Did AMD REALLY have it all over Intel, or was Intel hobbled for the test? Tell us what you think!

it looks like it's tipped. But AMD dualcore may be better but those resualts aren't bealiveable. Any one agree?

To an extent. I personally wouldnt touch Intel DC machines, two same lousy CPU's on the same die...sure. Anywho, I know AMD wins, but I really do doubt the length with which was portrayed

It could have been biased towards AMD, even though those tests are thought pretty reliable.

What I would like to see is several different benchmark tests run for each section.
say not only half life 2, but also maybe battlefield 2, farcry, and a couple of others.
add a few more of the other benchmarking tools - say 3d mark 05.
And others for all of the rest of the sections.

That would've given a better comparision.

You should never show 'unbiased' using only 1 benchmarking tool per section. Thats like saying AMD is better than Intel because 'x' benchmarking tool says so. While 'y' benchmarking tool favours Intel, and 'z' benchmarking tool favours SunSparc and both AMD and Intel run like dogs on it.

Yes, I remember the ads. AMD dual cores probably are better across the board as far as heat, power, cost, and speed are concerned, but I'm not sure how accurate the tests are. This one made me chuckle and it may even be true.

Bout time someone gave Intel a kick in the ass! Here's hoping Intel fights back with something other than PR.
