| MythTV is an awesome system - I personally run it at home with a DVB-T card (digital TV) but it can handle analog and satellite as well. Depending on the cable box you have, it may be able to communicate directly with the cable box. It happily pulls down all the channels, populates the TV guide, handles video pause, scheduling recordings, plays MP3s and DVDs and has a web interface if you forget to set something to record when you're away from home. It also supports a distributed architecture, so you can have one back end machine (with one or more TV cards) feeding a number of frontend machines. It doesn't run on Windows. It runs on Linux. There is a distribution of Linux that is designed for MythTV - it's called KnoppMyth. It makes setting things up easier if you're not run Linux before

| I've been meaning to throw a myth box together in a silverstone case for the living room. Just haven't found a good deal on the cae yet. Keep missing them on ebay. I really don't weant a PC that looks like a PC in my entertainment system. That episode of system covers most of what you would have questions about trying to get a myth box running. i highly recommend anyone thinking of using myth check it out.

| Don't forget the distributed architecture though. There's nothing stopping you putting together a good spec machine with two or three TV cards in for the backend, and dropping that somewhere else other than the living room. Then the frontends can be far more lightweight, like an XBox or MiniITX system. If you want to get real low noise, then a MiniITX that network boots would mean that there isn't even any hard disk noise. One day I might get around to that!

| There's a bunch of TV Tuner cards that will work with MCE, depending on the quality and budget you have. Some of them have hardware encoding on board, but others rely on the CPU to do the encoding of the video. What kinds of inputs do you need?

| http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16889102010 thats the TV were getting. The xbox360 will be using the composite and I'm plugging my GTX with a DVI. SO I'm now sure what the tunner will have on it.

| The TV tuner is usually just used as an input, with the main graphics card providing the output. There are some TV tuner cards with their own outputs, but generally, they need their own PVR software to handle it. The TV you linked has an HDMI input, a composite input, a s-video input, and a couple of HD/SD component inputs. Make sure you have a cable that can go from DVI to HDMI if you want to use the DVI output on your graphics card.
