I think I avoided disaster

As you might know I pulled the trigger on a new rig over the weekend. I was surfing the web Saterday night and thought I'd look at zipzoomfly's store ratings, (thats were I put my order in),this is what I found h**p://www.resellerratings.com/seller1991-p4-s1-d1.html . I canceled the order and put a new one in where I should have to begin with, Newwegg. I nixed the DVD burner and insted of the 6800gt went with the X850XT, the price was 289$ but it was 30$ off and I got it for 259$. I think I did the right thing, I couldn't get past those store reviews. I expect my order Friday or Monday. Newegg cost more for me , but at least the order will get here. I welcome anyone's thoughts on the matter.

Take a look here for a comparison with NewEgg:

h**p://www.resellerratings.com/seller2121-p2-s1-d1.html

I'm not apologizing for ZipZoomFly's shortcomings. I'm only pointing out that EVERYBODY has unhappy customers. When you deal with a lot of people, you are going to step in a pile of poo periodically.

ZipZoomFly's reseller rating is 8.14, which is quite respectable. NewEgg's is only 9.26. NewEgg does seem to have a better customer service rating than ZipZoomFly, which is definitely something to consider.

Long and short, I've purchased from both in the past and wouldn't have any qualms about dealing with either one.

In any case, I hope you are happy with your purchase.

I would go to the link but I might cancel this order too (he he). I think the next time I need some parts I'm going to get them in person.

Newegg has never let me down. $1000+ in parts.

I live ZZF but I once had to argue about the RMA what wireless was but in the end they even paid for return shipping.

Over the last few years, I've spent a few thousand at both Newegg and ZZF. Lately, I tend more toward ZZF for the prices. Newegg, in the last year or so changed their policies for returns.... used to be much better.

Both are highly reputable, and honest. That's what matters, right?

I probably got a little paranoid, I think not being able to hold and inspect the items makes me uncomfortable. I know we live in the "Electronic Age" and I like that, but I'm still a little "old School". I remember the days when you went out, you were out, now days you are always a cell away.

I can't even get to ZZF's website and haven't been able to for the last few months, no matter where I'm coming from!

Same here.

It's frustrating not being able to see what people are talking about!

They're a California shop... shipping would negate any good deal they offer.
