Hey Skool! Congrats on the iguana

The Opteron is the better chip right now, but it is your own personal choice. VGA -> VGA leads should be cheap

iguana? where? i want an iguana!

A vga - vga 2m is about £4 from ebuyer. And Ebuyer have got the PSU back in stock now and are getting 400 3200+ in stock tomorrow so the ttal with the vga cable is about £305 delivered. I am happy. I am probably going to order tomorrow. I think i'll stick with an athlon64 for now. Thanks for all the help you guys have given me, and for convincing me to take the long term financially beneficial route. I probably couldn't have done it without you, all of you that means. So, in a few days, i'll finally have what i've waited a long time for, a half decent gaming machine.

EDIT: Oh, i see what you mean, 1000 posts is iguana! Cool!

The money is going to get me a mobo (DFI Ultra-D NF4), GPU (6200TC), PSU (Hiper 525W), CPU (Athlon 64 3200+) and a VGA - VGA cable. It's all finally decided now so there we go, yay!

Thanks,
Scott Pritchard.

How much is the 3200+? The Opteron 144 is better than the 3200+ and it costs 100 quid. This computer has got to last awhile, don't be hasty.

The 3200+ is £95.49 at ebuyer. I'm going out to a local computer store tomorrow to get a VGA cable and check prices of the upgrade components. I'll be sure to check the price of the opteron 144 as well though. It has got to last a while, indeed, but do not fear, even what i have isn't hasty. If opteron works out better when i've checked prices at the computer store near me, i'll see what difference it is.

Slightly off of topic, does 4 amps equal 400 milliamps or 4000 milliamps? i need to know because i'm going to pick up an adapter from Maplin tomorrow.

I would guess 4000 miliamps cause the prefix mili means 1000.

Right, i've got a VGA cable which works. But i still need a 12V 4A DC power adapter. I've got a 12V 3.6A general use adapter but i don't have one at 4A, and neither do Maplin. Does anyone know where i can get one cheaply online? I really need this.

Oh yeah, i'm going for a 3200+ CPU, ordering from Ebuyer in a few minutes.

Well thanks to the wonderful world of Ebay, i've just bought and won and payed for a 12v 4A adapter. It's £14 delivered, all the way from Hong Kong. The seller is a member of Square trade which made me even happier to buy.

only one item i have ever listed has sold on the classifieds here, while i can offload $1000's of parts in less than a week on others. might have something to do with it.

Well, that's it! My jobs officially over! I was told this morning that due to budget problems, currys couldn't afford to keep me on, they have to work to 95% of their wage budget. Personally, that sounds like BS to me, having studied business studies for a few years now, i personally would have thought of a better excuse. So, no more money incoming now, not from my job anyway. And my mum kinda messed my ordeing up last night. Because i had to get a VGA cable, the shop i bought it from didn't accept card, so i had to borrow £2 from my mum. She then took me to an ATM machine. Now, since the minimum withdrawl from an ATM machine is £10, i ended up having £299.07 left in my account! Then my mum decided that the £2 didn't matter that much and gave it back to me! And banks here in the UK aren't open on saturdays so i can't order until monday! As soon as i realised i was a few pounds short, i just switched off the computer. And all this because of £2! It's stupid. I've also got 2 cartridges here from Cartridge Monkey, one i bought (which they sent the wrong one) and one they sent out as a replacement (which is the same as the first one i bought so it's also incompatible). So that's £15 i'm out of there (for now). So i can't order until monday which has really pi**ed me off.

I'm going for the Epox board (from my other thread) though, seems about ideal. I'm ordering from overclock.co.uk since their delivery is next day monday to friday.

OMG! I now have my job back! Apparently, there was a misunderstanding between 2 of the managers about me! So, now i'm working only 6 hours a week, meh, i'm lazy, it's about £100 a month so not too bad, now i'll have some money for my holiday as well as my computer upgrade. Life is strange!

Yeah, as I was eating my cereal this morning, there was a sudden wind, and all the sugar puffs floating in the milk formed themselves ito the words

I had a similar experience! What I seemed to be seeing in the butter and jelly in my crumpet were the words "1Mb L2 Cache" and "Better overclockability". Weird...
