Worth upgrading?

Ok, I'm getting slightly bored with my current PC and am considering another project.
Would there be a very noticeable difference going from my current Epox system to this: Epox 9NPAJ or DFI Ultra D and a 7800GT? I've calculated it should'nt cost me too much to do so may be worth it if if a much faster machine.

Andy C, Bradmax, Cadaveca and all other NF4 users....opinions?

The 7800GT is a nice card, but im sure most people would say go for the x1800 series but eigher way i love my 7800GT... If you really want SLI why not give the ASUS A8N32 (seems to get good reviews (virtually silent)) a go>? If you want to know some scores for the 7800GT i will happily give you them... But i couldnt say how it performs over resolutions of 1024x768

I'm not really too fussed about SLi, its just happens that the 9NPAJ Sli is a very cost effective board!

Your benchmarks would be handy as our specs are "fairly" similar apart from the mainboard, memory and GPU.

Right all these benchmarks were run with the 7800GT at stock settings...

3Dmark03 @ 2200Mhz = 15134

3Dmark05 @ 2600Mhz = 7379

Aquamark @ 2600Mhz = 84796
Aquamark @ 2750Mhz = 87951

Iteresting, my 3D03 score is 13485 with CPU at 2.4Ghz and GPU clocked to 450 Core, 1250 Memory.
3D05 though suffers terribly at this OC and I'm getting a shade UNDER 5K but if I turn it down a little (GPU overclock) then the score is about 5600.
aquamark is about 68-70K, havent run it recently though.

I would wait. Your 6800 Ultra has plenty of oomph in it left, and your Opteron is an overclocking beastie.
I'd be overjoyed to have what you have! Spend your money elsewhere!

3D05 scroes are a little haphazard, now scoring 6K but the occasional 4890 appears!?

I may keep hold of it for a while actually, like I said above its working flawlessly and does everything I ask of it

Exactly, the more you wait, the more money you'll have so you can have even better.

That doesn't always work! The value of my kit keeps going down and the cost of new kit stays high!

I would say go with a DFI-landparty UT-SLi-DR, or an epox. 9npa. a 7800GT is nice but save up and buy two or a GTX for real power.
