That's not a review - that's a marketing exercise!
Since when has power factor correction provided stable and clean power to the load?

There's no comment about the split rails and their actual distribution. A number of PSUs claiming split rails don't actually split but simply wire the two 12V 'rails' into the same supply.

Having 12V supplies that exceed 20A puts the PSU in a grey area. The PSU's 12V@22A exceeds the 240VA limitation specified in both EN60950 and UL60950. This means that a consumer should only have limited access to the PSU...

The fact is Hilbert doesn't really know a PSU from his arse, but he clearly knows that people expect him to do them. I particularly liked the part about the soft case for all the modular cables. Very flash.

The 120mm fan was also a major selling point. Plenty of photos of it, reasons why its better than a not 120mm fan. And the packaging was so good that he changed the title of a whole page from picture shoot to "Booty Shoot".

It doesnt change the fact that its a hell sweet power supply, but I would take the old model ~480W Noisetaker for half the price.

Yeah it is expensive and as you said dsio the old model it is a better choice for price/performance.
Although I am Enermax fan my next PSU probably by an adjustable OCZ.

I'm impressed by that "...Aviation type heavy duty modular connector..." for the Hiper...

Seriously, when was the last time a modular power connector ever came out of a PSU. Short of hanging it from the roof and swinging on the cables it doesn't happen. After the cable connectors, you are left with a heap of junk PSU.

According to Monkeyman it's pretty good, I guess that's where people got the idea.

I never said it was as good as a high-end Enermax unit, The 525w non modular version is however for £50 and for a system with specs similar to mine brilliant value for money. I never commented on the modular version at all. The internals of the higher rated modular unit are actually of a lower quality than the standard 525w unit, this is probably due to the fact they have put all the shiny exhibitionist crap on it and given it a higher rating for only £10 more. I still havent managed to get the rails to fluctuate more than 5/100th's of a volt even heavily overclocked.

SO THERE!

eathier way it should handel a 1900X or a 512 GTX right? The reason I'm going modular is that it's an acrylic case so I don't wan the extra wires and it SLI compat. Also the enermac cost more, lots more.

Theres a reason the Enermax costs more though...

Why buy a 7800GTX when you can by a Geforce 4 MX? Its cheaper.

You buy a high priced PSU if you need what it gives you, If you dont need the features then you wouldnt buy one.
You wouldnt put a 7800GTX in a machine that is only used to play minesweeper, because the cost wouldn't outweigh the benefits, in fact the GF4 MX would do just nicely.

umm wtf? this is hardly new I've had mine for over a month and it was out a month before that.

and no it's not requied for 7800's in sli, many others will do that, but it is required for dual x1800xt's which need it's continuous 36amps on the combined +12v rails. overkill for most, yes, but anice psu all around and when you're paying 600$ for a gpu why not 170$ for a psu you really need to put 10% of your system budget into power anyways (most people don't get this concept) due to the high requirements of new systems.

yogurt_21 Ι agree cos PSU is the most important peripheral and you don't change it easily such as CPUs or mainboards and so on.
For example my current Enermax (20pins 465 Watts) it is OK for new ASUS 939.
