DVD not recognizing disks

I have an MSI DR4-A DVD-RW drive that used to work fine, but now does not recognize DVD discs. I haven't tried DVD movies yet, but...I won't hold my breath. It works fine for CDs. I tried upgrading the firmware (and get an error about cddrv.sys). My specs are in my sig. Any ideas?

It might be dirty lenses, or it might be age, or it might even be starforce.

Definitely not StarForce. I think it's the firmware. I installed an older firmware and now it reads backup DVDs (random files only), but not ones with applications on them (backup or retail). I'm trying to find a more up-to-date firmware than the old one I have and see how that goes. I'll post back if it works. Who says the latest is the greatest? :P

It's the firmware. I flashed it to the next to last one and the discs can be read now. If anyone comes across this, it's a MSI DR4-A (MS-8404A) and Firmware 2.60 was the problem. 2.50 works fine.

Just one more thing. It apparently just having problems with the TDK DVD-R discs. It can't read burned or blank discs. I tried all the Firmware I have and these discs do not work well with the drive. TDK blank CDs are fine though and Imation DVD-R discs work as well.
