HDD or Software

it looks like aHDD issue. IBM Deskstar 76gig IDE checked with the latest
DFT from Hitachi Storeage Solutions. while installing Win2K, I get error
messages saying that the file being copied is not a ligitemate Windows
Immage. this is a Genuine Windows 2K didk. yes I have installed this
software before but the hdd died. I am trying to install on another drive
in the same computer. I decide to try WinXP-Home, same error message.
now here is the kicker. I try to install Linux and the install locks up.
so I'm 0 for 3 and working that hdd over again with DFT. I really don't
like hardware failures and this one bums me most. I guess that the IBM
'DeathStar" has come by it's name honestly.

the old drive was 30gig. I get a windows protection error with xp and on
three other drives so far. I would hate to think that my 2 month old XP
disk is fubar. btw, it's an OEM disk and I don't think I'll get much help.
