Old skool dual was 2 single core CPU's on the same mobo. Designed for servers and not much in the way of overclocking options in the BIOS.

I had a dual P2 for a while... Then I broke it. I have a tendency to kill hardware. At least its not expensive like ive heard some of the hardware people on here have killed. Pitch....

mmmmm.... not really. Dell's servers are actually very respectable, and great value, as are HP's. The major difference is that Dell's poweredge range is rather cheap, which is a major plus. After working in a two bit shed turned hosting facility for quite a while, I've figured out nobody will buy a brand when they can buy specs.

we use dells here as workstations and servers, the supercomputer is ibm boxes though and lots of them! (300 i think at the last count all dual opterons)

edit - my bad, they've added another 92 boxes, this time they are dual, dual core boxes (4 cpu's per box) giving an extra 368 cpu's bringing the total upto 968 opterons and 214 xeons

Do you name them? I call mine Da-Void and The Big Empty. I'll bet you have some interesting names for your 392 boxes!

Why not share them!? ":O}

My Desktop is named Curzon. Laptop is Torias. Girlfriend's computer is Jadzia. Server is Ezri.

The HTPC is called "computer". Far less creative.

The boxes have nothing to do with me unfortunately, i just get to load up data to it (otherwise known as iridis) to be crunched.

However all of my boxes at home are named after classes of starships that have featured the name enterprise.
Sovereign for the main box, Galaxy for the older p4, excelsior for the centrino laptop, constitution for the old p3-m laptop, NX-01 for my axim.

and yes the work group is enterprise

Edit -

Snap with DSIO on the star trek nerdy ness then

I should also really of named the conroe box after the enterprise-j as its leagues ahead of the other boxes. I couldn't remember it though nor could be bothered to look it up whilst installing windows and i've since forgotten
