Which LCD Monitor?

So I'm getting rid of my 20 inch Phillips CRT and will be going LCD. But which one? Price $1000 AU$ or close to, any recommendations as I haven't a clue.

Don't get the Philips Brilliance 200P6. It sucks, IMO.

I was just looking at the Dell 24 inch LCD, is it worth the extra $200.

Now 24" LCD's are available? Why not just put a putting green on your desk? I'm guessing that its Pixel Refresh Rate is more than 10 ms, but I could easily be wrong. If gaming isn't high on your list and you can afford it, I think Dell builds good monitors.

Dell even sells a 30" model. I think they are mainly used for desktop-publishing-type applications, so that you can have two or more proofs shown next to each other on the screen.

I bet you can't wait to test it out What resolution are you planning on using and also does the thought of dual-monitor interest you?

I think that LCD's have a "native" resolution? It's good to keep it native, AFAIK.

Right you are! Native resolution, or some integer divisor of it. For example, with a 1280x1024 screen, 640x480 would look good scaled to fit, because it is exactly 1/2 the horizontal and vertical resolution. 800x600 and 1024x768 would look like crap, though.

All I can say is WOW that thing is big & beautiful. I ran Passmarks monitor test over it no dead pixcels and all is OK. Running a res of 1920 x 1600. Farcry,BF2,COD2 all look great in wide screen. Now all I have to do is learn how to write a review on it, but I'm sure I'll have no problems sitting in front of it for hours.

1024 x 768 looks fine on my 1280 x 1024 panel. I've seen worse on panels running in their native resolution!

Does look crap on some though.

I admit it, I'm green with envy. Trying to imagine what an extra five inches diagonally must look like. Huge, no doubt!
