What I've found (and this is just me) is anything over about 48 MPH starts to get scary. That's when you start thinking about all of the prior maintenance you've done on your bike, and hoping that you didn't forget something.

This is why I never 'cheap out' on bike tires and such. When you have only about 1 sq. inch of contact between you and your Maker, you'd better have a helluva grip!
