What would be nice is if Intel would get their server line off of those ridiculous high-latency, hot-running FB-DIMMS altogether.

FB-Dimm's are not designed to be low latency though, they're made for sheer bandwidth, which they do have when you stack enough of them together.

and well latency of normal ram gets worse the more sticks you have in the system, with fb-dimm's the latency doesnt degrade infact if anything it gets better.

fb-dimms also allow you to use much more ram in a single system, i've seen boards with 16 ram slots, with these corsair sticks thats upto 32gigs of ram in a single computer! thats twice as much as the highest you'll get out of an dual socket opteron system, (which as shown by the Quad FX launch has really poor latencies)
