Will a Sata3 harddrive still work with a regular Sata compatible Enternal exclosure?

Just as the title says, i want to buy a SATA compatible external enclosure but it seems like SATA3 harddrives are cheaper then the SATA150's if i get a SATA 3 will it be able to work with the external enclosure?

I think it'll work fine, but I could be missing some info.

It should work just fine, but it will only work at SATA 1 speeds.

May be worth checking the drive has a link to force SATA compatibillity.

From my own experience with a PATA USB enclosure I wouldn't expect to see much of performance - probably worse than PATA drives on a recent Southbridge.
