Ya know I fix those for a living!!! Where were you getting the feed tires at?

The thing about HP's is if you replace the rollers it will probably last ya ANOTHER 2 years with NO probs.

My brother might be selling an hp laserjet 4L.. it works pretty well.. but doesn't come with any cartridges.. Not sure on a price.. but I'm pretty sure it could be kept under your $140 requirement

Bleh, my 740 died after 4 months. it really sucked. i currently use a HP 952C and love it, although my hp laserjet series 4 which is like 15 years old is still running strong.

If you really want some great looking Print outs Check out the Canon S900 or the S9000.... The S9000 can Print a large 13x19 image.. The S900 can only do 8X10... and the Prints looks Aewsome!

oh and the price for the S9000 is $499 right now...Not sure about the S900 but i'm sure it's less.

I picked up a canon s450 from best buy many moons ago and it's been a solid printer. Still haven't replaced the original ink cartridges 300 pages+ later

he photo printing quality is alright, but laser just spanks it when it comes to true reproduction.

Cheap printer? I use a Lexmark Z13. Does decent enough colour pictures, and the black cartridges last forever!

The Canon S500 has rave reviews, and replacement cartridges for it are about as reasonable as they get. It's about $150, in Yankee dollars.

I'd rather have a color laser, of course. If wishes were horses...

i used cannon for a while and was never impressed with anything they made...except cameras, so it'll take me a while to go back.

Ya know, the feed tires on HP's usually come out REAL easy. If you have a razor knife you can cut new tread into them and they SHOULD work fine.

DON"T clean them with Rubbing Alcho.

WD40 might work fine, or just regular soap and water should really do the trick. (remember I fix these for a living so questioning me is probably a NO NO)

Nail polish remover will probably bring them back too.

If you do cut them, use a cross hatch pattern.

Spyder - I don't have a recommendation, but look strongly at HP's. We have a great 4-in-1 HP. No problems ever, and good quality prints if you are using photo paper our high res paper.
