Sata and Sata II drives on same controller..

I have two new Sata II drives arriving soon and want to run them in RAID 0 as with my current drives, however is it possible for me to set up two separate RAID configurations one using 150Mb/s and one using 300Mb/s both on the same 6-port Nvidia controller?

Board is as in sig with Nforce 570 Ultra chipset.

Plan is to use new drives for OS and games and other pair for swapfile and backup.

I am not sure. I know my NF4 can span across SATA to PATA or either of my SATA controllers. I would imagine yours could do this too. The only issue I see is, you would be held to the speed of the slower controller or drive.

I know this is a little late on the draw...

but that's almost like asking, if I put a DVD-R/W on the same controller as my WD800JB, will the hdd only run at UDMA-2.

you can configure multiple raid-0 two drive setups in the NV bios; the one that you designate is boot is of course going to get the nod that way.

also, the bios awards each drive a master status on the channel it's plugged into, and it subsequently is detected for its capabilities.

if you set the drives 0 & 1 together, and 2 & 3 together, they should be recognized and awarded ratings coincident with their performance capability.

make sense?
