Was tempted to buy one of these but the problem is its the same computer that the D400 was 4 years ago, just with some new gimmics. In this category you want things like:

*Magnesium/Carbon Fibre casing
*LED backlight
*Modern Core2 processors
*high end batteries

All of which the D420 does not have.

I own one of the old model Lattitude 400 series laptops, the C400, which is a Mobile Pentium 3-M 1200Mhz with 1GB ram, 12" screen.

Its cheap plastic, and ergonomically terrible, but it was modern and beefy at the time, with good battery life and screen.

This new one has a widescreen panel, which is worthless on a screen that small when you need height, and has worse battery life than my 5 year old C400.

Someone take one of their thongs off and slap Dell around the chops with it for me.
Notebook: Apple Macbook Pro 13" i7 2.7Ghz (3.4Ghz max) 8GB DDR3 1333Mhz (Mac OSX 10.6.7)
Desktop: ASUS Rampage Formula X48
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 (Yorkfield) @ 3.60Ghz (Folding SMP Linux)
Running Fedora 15 Linux (GNOME 3)
Dual Dell 2407WFP
