Rumours of the next Sony PS3

Umm, I hate to point this out, but just how many different models of PS2 were there? Last time I counted, there were at least 26:

SCPH-30000,SCPH-30000R, SCPH-30001, SCPH-30001R, SCPH-35001, SCPH-30002, SCPH-30002R, SCPH-35002, SCPH-30003, SCPH-30003R, SCPH-35003, SCPH-30004, SCPH-35004, SCPH-30004R, SCPH-30006R , SCPH-39000, SCPH-39001, SCPH-39002, SCPH-39003, SCPH-39004, SCPH-37000, SCPH-50001, SCPH-50002, SCPH-50003, SCPH-50004, SCPH-70007.

So, this may simply mean that Sony have done some redesign work on a PCB...

Sony are to release a cut-down PS3 model, with a 40GB drive and no backward compatibility. Don't know if this relates directly to these new model numbers.

The new model will cost less, and the price of the 60GB unit is going to be cut, as well.
