That is freaking cool! But what would you do with it? Project videos on to a handy wall with your cell?

Using a handy white surface seems to be puzzackly what the inventors of this little wonder have in mind. Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing, you guys are all right!

Of course, we have no idea how bright the display is. It isn't so useful if you have to have a completely darkened room.

The article mentions that it can project a display up to 40 inches. I'm a little confused if that means that it can project up to 40 inches away, or if that means it can project an image up to 40 inches in size.

I would assume that it means up to 40inches away, as a 40inch display would require a fair bit of light to be readable.

Doesn't mean much on it's own. It should be able to project an image 40 feet wide, if the projector is far enough away from the screen. Would be very dim, of course!

Which is exactly why the question crossed my mind; it bears directly on the brightness of the projector.

Most likely it would be a fixed focal length lens, so perhaps it goes out of focus at a certain distance?

More likely doesn't have the power to illuminate a screen in any meaningful way. Focus isn't that hard to adjust.

This would be perfect for those long stall visits at work.
