Hey- i tell people not to get new vaio's because of the battery life- i mean my pIII 1gig lasts longer playing DIVX then a brand new vaio (20min battery charge :-( ) by 2hours! Spyder |

Uber Laptop ok, heres the laptop to get. These things are really amazing, and affordable. www.sagernotebook.com anybody who can dispute the price and performance of these laptops is really crazy. My work just spend 2400 on a killer new laptop w/ P4 2.4ghz, 512 RAM, 40 gig Hard Drive, Radeon 7500 *very nice* trust me on this one, they look great, they perform great, and they don't cost a whole lot.

Any notebook with a >1.8GHz Pentium 4 processor is using a desktop variant of the CPU. This means more heat and less battery life. Also as far as notebook build quality goes most name brands beat any small companies trying to get a bite at the big cake. That chasis the notebook you recommend uses is very common and many others use it too. It is cheap, flimsy and you get what you pay for. Also the LCD screens on such noteboks are nothing to boast about, usually on XGA resoltuion, sometimes 1400x1050 max.

What do you want it for? Gaming, browseing, office apps, how often will you be carring it? I just bought a laptop and did alot of research befor hand. I wanted a gaming rig and I lug it to the barge I work on and leave it there for up to 30 days at a time. So I went with a Dell 8200 w/ P4 1.6, GeForce4Go, 512mb DDR ram, and the ultra bright 1600x1200 15" screen. It gets 5448 in 3Dmark2001se. Great for what I wanted it for but I wouldn't want to have to carry it around alot. The thing is huge and heavy. Also if you want long battery life a laptop with an ATi 7500 would be a much better choice. As for AMD, I have owned 2 other AMD laptops (K6 333MHz and K6-2 500MHz) both got extremely hot. I can't imagine how hot a mobile Athlon gets.
