Mixing Memory

Hi,

I've 2x512MB Corsair XMS CL2 memory and 2x1GB Hyundai CL3 memory all PC3200 DDR and was wondering what's the best way for me to utilise them.

I've been running an XP base AMD 3200+ 7800GS AGP system with all 4 DIMMs installed but dunno if this is the best solution. Machine used mainly for gaming (and a PCI-E update is too expensive for me right now b4 someone chips in with that

All constructive input appreciated.

Thanks,

M.

BTW Have an 3800+ X2 I'm due to swop in this w/e if that has any bearing on the discussion.

Make sure that you set all of the memory to run CL3 (the BIOS should do this anyway).

Also, bear in mind that XP can only address 2 GiB of memory unless you fiddle with things. Even then, XP can only address a max of 3 GiB of memory. If you want to use more than that, you've got to go to XP64 or Vista64.

A 64-bit Linux distribution is also an option.
