Volume hotkeys don't work globally

Hey all,
i'm having a little issue with the volume+ and volume- hotkeys on my Saitek Eclipse II. The problem i'm having is that they are working as is evident with Winamp, but Windows isn't adjusting it's global volume. Since i tend to use Ventrilo and Winamp at the same time, i like to adjust them all in relation to each other. The only thing that's changed recently in regards to sound hardware is the motherboard, and that i'm using a Speedlink Medusa 5.1 USB headset now opposed to my old 5.1 system.

It's strange as i can hear the volume going up in other applications when i press the volume+ key, but i don't hear it going down when i press the volume- key. The Windows volume control also shows no change in settings.

As i understood it, it was Windows itself that dealt with controlling global hotkeys on multimedia keyboards and wasn't affected by hardware connected to the PC.

Is there any way of getting it back to how it was where all hotkeys worked as intended or does it mean i have to do a repair/clean install to make it so?

I couldn't dig anything up on google and it's quite a strange problem.

Hmm, an update, after changing to my 5.1 system, the global hotkeys are working fine with Windows volume. Perhaps they don't work with USB based Audio devices?

another update. New drivers from speedlink fixed it.

Now i got the opposite problem. The hotkeys work, but the actual volume control slider as well as mute button doesn't work. However, it's only with the Headset that this problem exists. Perhaps the speedlink drivers are interfering with it?
