HP Registration

well, HP has another dissatisfied customer. I recently reinstalled the printer drivers from the original cd. now I get this annoying registration pop-up that wont let me register the printer. a call to customer support, in INDIA, I was told that the printer was 1000+ days out of warranty. now according to 'customer support' it would take a tech to fix the problem, BUT, the printer is out of warranty and nothing can be done.

help me remove the following;

res://C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\hpqwrg.rsc/register.htm.

I can't find the file using normal methods and cannot get rid of this annoying pop-up.

Ron

Looks like more than annoying to me, it's more like sabotage. So you can't delete the entire driver and install an older driver? Sorry if that's a stupid Q.

It looks as though the actual file you are looking for is: hpqwrg.rsc

the /register.htm could be a pointer to another file, or a flag for the popup.

You should be able to rename the hpqwrg.rsc, and it should stop those problems, either that or remove the pointer.

Just make sure you write down what you do incase you need to change it back.
