Intel Solid State Disks Break Cover

As Gordon correctly reported yesterday, Intel has finally seen fit to reveal almost everything we wanted to know about its forthcoming solid state hard disks. Due to hit the streets in less than a month, Intel’s new Extreme and Mainstream drives will attack both the server market, and the desktop/notebook markets.

Hate to see the price. I'd really like to build an SSD array, but with SSD costing typically in excess of twice what standard drives cost, it's a hard sell.

Still a future bit of kit worth looking forward to...even if I do get eye strain trying to see one in my box...":O}

Be great for a small build.

Wait a while and the price will be what we can swallow.

But as everyone knows, given time the price will be very good or even better than the current hard drives as they become old & slow in comparison.
